Infiniti HR Discusses the Maryland Human Insurance Partnership (HIP) Act

OLNEY, MD – Infiniti HR CEO Scott Smrkovski knows firsthand what it’s like for employees of small companies who are not offered health insurance by their employers. Prior to starting Infiniti HR, he worked for a larger firm and learned just how difficult it can be to navigate sensitive human resources issues such as insurance coverage for employees.

Determined to provide a smaller agency feel where clients could discuss concerns and questions directly with human resources experts, he started Infiniti HR. A payroll and benefits company that help businesses reduce costs by effectively managing human resource functions while allowing businesses to focus on their core operations that impact profitability, Infiniti HR is focused on customer service, staying on top of the latest industry trends, and extending access to benefits for clients and their employees.

Just this week, Maryland Governor O’Malley signed into law a program that reduces the number of uninsured residents. The Working Families and Small Business Health Coverage Act established the Human Insurance Partnership (HIP). Eligible small businesses currently not extending health insurance options to their workers can now buy health insurance at about half the cost and reward individuals for efforts to improve their health.

Under the partnership, a small business with two to nine full-time employees that has not offered health insurance for the past 12 months and meets wage and salary requirements established by the commission is eligible to receive a subsidy of up to 50% off the premium.

Once enrolled in the partnership, the business is likely to continue to be eligible for the subsidy in following years. Family coverage can also be subsidized.
